If you are looking to get involved in scrapbooking, which is a hobby that has grown greatly in
popularity in the last several years, there are several supplies you will need to gather together.
While the scrapbooking supplies you choose to have may vary according to the type of
designs you wish to create, there are a few basic supplies that most scrapbookers like to

keep on hand. These include:
- An album
- Cardstock paper
- Photo corner mounts
- Scissors
- Paper trimmer
- Art pens
- Archival pens
- Mounting glues
- Die cut templates
- Rubber stamps
- Craft punches
- Stencils
- Eyelet setters
- Inking tools
- Heat embossing tools
- Die cut machines
The album is an important component of your scrapbook, since it is what holds the entire
scrapbook together. Take your time in selecting the album you will use for your scrapbook, as it
will determine the size of the pages you can include in your book. In addition, you will need to
decide between a bound album or one that allows you to add and remove pages at will. Finally,
consider the design of the album. This includes the way it opens as well as any decorative
work that may or may not be on the outside of the book.
Cardstock paper is used to make the pages within your scrapbook. While you can use thinner
paper, cardstock paper is more durable and will work well for flipping the pages and for
attaching items to the page. For a special effect, you may wish to occasionally use thinner
paper. But, for the most part, cardstock paper is the paper of choice.
Photo corner mounts are used to mount photographs to your scrapbook page. Most
scrapbookers use the photos as the focal point of the pages within their scrapbook, though you
may choose to use other items as your focal point on occasion. Even so, you will likely add
photos to your book. Therefore, you will need photo corner mounts to help hold the picture in
place in an attractive manner. If you don’t wish to use photo corner mounts, you might want to
use photo mounting tape, adhesive tots, or acid free glue instead.
Scissors and paper trimmers will obviously be used to cut out your photos or other items that
you use in your scrapbook. But, in addition to straight edge scissors, there are also scissors
available for scrapbooking that create attractive designs. These scissors are great for creating
pretty boarders around the paper you are cutting to use in your scrapbook. Therefore, you will
likely want to have several of these on hand.
Art pens and archival pens are not necessarily the same. Art pens are used for creating
creative designs and images, while archival pens are used for journal writing and other types of
writing. If you are going to write in calligraphy, for example, you will need pens with the right type
of point to create the letters properly.
When selecting your materials, consider the methods by which you wish to create your
scrapbook. It is ok to start small – but you will most likely continue to add to your supplies as
your love for the hobby grows!
