Making Daisy Flowers

1. Fold a green sheet of construction paper in half. Draw leaves of all shapes and sizes on the
half sheet and then cut them out with the page folded. By folding you’re cutting down the time it
takes. Set the leaves aside.
2. Take another green piece of paper fold in half length ways. Cut ¼ to ½ inch stems. Set the
stems aside.
3. Draw 1 to 1 ½ inch circles from yellow construction paper folded in half. Cut the circles out.
Each flower with a center needs two so keep this in mind while drawing and cutting out circles.
These yellow circles will become the flower centers for colorful daisies and violets. Set the
centers aside.
4. Create petals for your flowers by drawing the petals on folded colorful paper. Cut the petals
out. Set aside for assembling later.

Assembling the Flowers

1. Glue a stem to a center.
2. Spread glue over the yellow center and stem. Arrange the petals around the center creasing
each petal lightly down the middle to create depth.
3. Crease each leaf down the middle and then glue onto the stem.
4. Cover entire stem and leaves with glue. Take another stem and lay it on top of the first stem,
the leaves, and the bit that goes into the center.
5. Stand the flowers in the basket until they are completely dry and ready to insert into the floral
foam.

Make daffodils using the same method, but glue a mini paper baking cup for the center. These
can be purchased from craft stores or kitchen shops. Create tulips by folding a piece of
construction paper in half. Draw tulips on the paper and cut them out. Make a cut from the
middle top to the center of one tulip. Make a cut from the middle bottom to the center of the other
tulip. Slide one tulip onto the other for a 3-dimensional tulip. Take two stems and make a small
cut at the top of each. Glue the entire length of one stem, add the leaves and press the other
stem to it. Quickly insert the cuts into the tulip petals. The project inspires making it easy to
come up with more ideas for fantasy flowers.

Creating the Basket of Flowers

1. Cut floral foam to fit the basket.
2. Cover the foam with Spanish moss using floral pins.
3. Make a diagonal cut at the bottom of each paper stem
4. Insert flower stems into the foam starting at the center and working towards the outside until
the basket looks full and fantastic.

Sit down on a weekend afternoon and share the fun of fantasy flowers with your children.
Arrange them in a basket and add a colorful bow. What a fun centerpiece for a little girl’s party.
