12 Reasons Why People Prefer Knitting

Hobbies are ... something which make us spend our leisure usefully. This is the default
definition we get when one is asked for. And the hobbies should be constructive and creative
for it to have a positive influence on us. Medical research has proved that some one who is
creative uses his left part of the brain much better than the normal people and he usually

turns out to be a better administrator , a person who handles problems more efficiently and
imaginatively.

Everything under the sky that leads to new outputs or creations is called creative hobbies , be
it painting or drawing or gardening or knitting or sewing ... and it was surprising to find to find
that knitting and sewing help a better place to all others including gardening. A little research
into this revealed that gardening followed only by people in their mid 50's soon after retirement
and once they become immobile or unable to move around, their creativity urges them to

pursue something that does not involve too much moving around and so men take up painting
and women, the age old arts of knitting and sewing. And when asked why only knitting and
sewing and not something that’s not as demanding, the following the following was stated...

1. What’s demanding... knitting? Don’t kid...

2. The final product is something that lives with you or little beyond and this way people can
remember you.

3. The more projects you complete, you feel optimistic and a sense of accomplishment is
achieved. And more such milestones come by you feel better about yourself.

4. You can show your love better when you create your own gifts. People understand and
appreciate your gift when they see the real love behind the creation.

5. I tell them about myself and my ways by knitting. I use this as my language and way of
expressing. My creativity seems to attract many for the colors I use are friendly and amiable.

6. This is one way you can make full use of your T.V time and travel time.

7. My mother used to knit scarves, her mother, socks and I’m trying to go a little beyond by
knitting jumpers.

8. Its cost effective. You can spend as much as you want and at the same time so little as
well.

9. Its one way I can do my part in charity. Knit and donate as I’m not in a position to spend too
much as I don't earn.

10. I love making things for myself. And I feel just awesome when I carry around my own
creations.

11. Its earning me some money as well. I can work in my leisure and I make some extra
money.

12. In this mechanized world, few are hobbies which add some balance to life and knitting is
one such. Meaning, not all is fast and rapid, sometimes so much effort and time is put in for
the birth of wonderful pieces of work.
